LADAKH


The state of laddakh namely has 2 cities leh and karGIL.



LEH

Leh, located in the Leh district, was also the historical capital of the Himalayan Kingdom of Ladakh, the seat of which was in the Leh Palace, the former residence of the royal family of Ladakh, built in the same style and about the same time as the Potala Palace in Tibet.

KARGIL

Kargil is a town in Kargil district and the joint capital of the Indian Union territory of Ladakh.Kargil is the second largest town in Ladakh after Leh.It is located 204 km to the east of Srinagar and 234 km west of Leh to the east. Kargil is the centre of the Suru River valley, historically known as Purig.


PLACES  TO VISIT IN LADDAKH

  1. Magnetic Hill



    The very strange place in laddakh is this Magnetic hill. This is a magnesium hill  which attracts metals towards itself the biggest example is when you visit this place put your car on neutral and put the hand break down and you will find the car moving ahead uphill. This is because of the magnetic attraction of the hill to the metal object

  2. Khardung La



    Khardungla is the worlds heigest moterable  mountain pass in Leh district of Laddakh.The elevation of Khardung La is 5,359 m (17,582 ft) from the sea level.

  3. PANGONG TSO LAKE



    Pangong Tso or Pangong Lake is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at an elevation of 4,225 m (13,862 ft). It is 134 km (83 mi) long and extends from LadakhIndia to the Tibetan Autonomous RegionChina. Approximately 60% of the length of the lake lies within the Tibetan Autonomous Region. The lake is 5 km (3.1 mi) wide at its broadest point. All together it covers 604 km2. During winter the lake freezes completely, despite being saline water. It is not a part of the Indus River basin area and geographically a separate landlocked river basin.


  4. Shanti Stupa



    Shanti Stupa is a Buddhist white-domed stupa (chorten) on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh district, Ladakh, in the north India. It was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu, Gyomyo Nakamura and part of the Peace Pagoda mission.
